FAVORITES

CANADA (+0)

On paper clearly the most talented team, but things are a lot different once we get on the ice. Hands down though Canada has the ability to romp through this tourney and if they get the great goaltending they should from Brodeur and if needed Luongo they are going to be super tough to beat. The depth at defense is astounding and in simple terms winning the gold for Canada is like winning all four major sports in America at the same time.

Key Players: Sid “The Kid” Crosby, Martin Broduer, Jarome Iginla

Wildcard: Chris Pronger

RUSSIA (+0)

Just as talented as the Canadians , but missing just a little depth on defense. Should make it to the Gold medal game with the amount of skill they have on offense and anytime you have Evgeny Nabakov in net you have to feel good about yourself. Russia has the best 1-2 punch in the tourney with Evgeny Malkin and Alexander “The Great” Ovechkin. Russia is big , strong, fast, and ready to make a splash in Vancouver.

Key Players: Evgeny Nabakov, Evgeny Malkin, Alexander Ovechkin,

Wildcard: Alexander Semin

SWEDEN (+0)

The Swedes always seem to have a chance at winning the gold and this year is no different. While they might not have as many NHL players as Russia or Canada they have tremendous depth at every position and most of the team has a lot of experience at the international level. If a couple breaks go the Swedes way this team can make a serious run at the gold.

Key Players: Nicklas Lidstrom, Thomas Holmstrom, Daniel Alfredson

Wildcard: Peter Forsberg

LONG SHOTS WITH GREAT VALUE

USA (+650)

You always have to give the Americans a chance with the amount of great NHL talent they bring with them, but this time that talent is very young and many will be experiencing their first taste of Olympic hockey. Goalie Ryan Miller could make or break their chances and the defense is going to have to come up big for the US to make a magical run in this tourney

Key Players: Patrick Kane, Chris Drury, Paul Stasny

Wildcard: Ryan Miller

CZECH REPUBLIC (+00)

The 1998 Gold Medal winners from Nagano might be far removed from that victory , but still feel they have the kind of club that can compete for the Gold. Led by legend Jaromir Jagr and a host if international and NHL stars this team could quietly go on a run in this tourney is the goaltending is hot and at +$1500 is a tremendous value.

Key Players: Jaromir Jagr, Roman Hamrlik, Thomas Vokoun

Wildcard: Patrick Elias
